Cervélo P3 Review

The Cervélo P3 is the fastest time trial bike ever. In the 2005 Tour de France, David Zabriskie achieved an average speed of 55 kph (34.0mph) over 19km (12 miles) of flat terrain. Thats not bad for a car, let alone a bicycle! So was man or machine responsible for this amazing turn of speed? We can not be sure, but after riding the Cervélo C3, it is clear that this bicycle is something very special. The Cervélo is constructed entirely from carbonfibre, and although it is not the lightest bike, it is certainly the most aerodynamic with the front forks, frame and saddle designed with an aerofoil shaped crossection to reduce drag.

At low speed the Cervélo rides like any other bike, but at high speed with your hands stretched out in the superman position using the 'tri bars', the windtunnel work turns this bike into a perpetual motion machine. Without trying you could easily maintain 20mph, with a little bit of effort you would be up to 25mph and if your David Zabriskie wannabe then 30mph is on the cards. Simply put, no other bike maintains high speed like the Cervélo C3. Downsides? Well, unfortunately the bike can not make up for a lack of fitness, so if you want to experience what the bike is capable of then you need to get training! A price of £2399.99 is also on the high side, but you pay for what you get. Overall, the Cervélo C3 is simply the Daddy of all high speed road bikes.
